Family-Crafted Hermitage Praised By Vinous
Another great media showing for our partners in Hermitage, JMB Sorrel! This very small family estate — with its monopole vineyard ‘Vignon’ at the foot of the noble hill of Hermitage — crafts exceptional wines in very limited quantities.
Jeb Dunnuck is a fan; and there’s no denying that a world-class appellation like Hermitage (where a majority of production is dominated by negociants or the local co-op) is served best by a family that’s called this historic region home for more than 100 years, and that has – generation after generation – farmed their monopole vineyard by hand. This is the real Hermitage!

2019 Hermitage Rouge ‘Le Vignon’
Displays an array of ripe red and blue fruit and floral scents, along with suggestions of olive, cracked pepper and allspice. Broad and fleshy in the mouth, offering appealingly sweet boysenberry, cherry liqueur and candied violet flavors and savory smoked meat and olive paste flourishes. Dusty tannins come in slowly on a long, smoky finish that echoes the cherry and spice notes.
2018 Hermitage Rouge ‘Le Vignon’
Smoky, mineral-tinged aromas of ripe cherry and dark berries, licorice, game and violet. Broad and sappy in the mouth, offering gently sweet blackberry, cherry-cola, floral pastille and salty olive flavors and a nervy snap of black pepper. Shows solid thrust and spicy cut on the floral tinged finish, which is given shape by steadily building tannins.
