Francis Orban Champagne Lauded In Vinous
The end-of-year Champagne reviews continue to bubble in slowly at Vinous; here’s the latest positive notes for our partner in the Marne and master of Meunier, Francis Orban. Bravo !
NV Francis Orban Extra Brut
Orban’s NV Extra Brut offers a striking expression of Meunier. Beautifully perfumed and generous, with lovely resonance, the Extra Brut is an engaging wine that will be quite versatile at the dinner table. Dried pear, spice, hazelnut and chamomile lead into a silky, caressing finish laced with soaring floral overtones. Disgorged: June, 2019. — Antonio Galloni
NV Francis Orban Extra Brut Rosé
The NV Extra Brut Rosé, 100% Meunier, is rich and expansive on the palate. Effusive aromatics and explosive fruit lend an air of exuberance that is front and center. Rose petal, crushed raspberry, blood orange and cinnamon give the Rosé a decidedly exotic flair. Disgorged: April, 2020. — Antonio Galloni
2015 Francis Orban Extra Brut Millésime
The 2015 Extra-Brut Millésime is 80% Chardonnay and 20% Meunier. Citrus, floral and light tropical accents all grace this understated, mid-weight Champagne. I would prefer to drink the 2005 over the next handful of years given its mid-weight structure. Dosage is 3 grams per liter. Disgorged: April, 2020. — Antonio Galloni
