The Champagne This Season: 2006 Egly Ouriet Grand Cru Brut Millèsime
Egly-Ouriet is the pinnacle of grower Champagne — we should know, as we were one of the first importers of Egly-Ouriet to the United States. Winemaker Francis Egly, with his grand cru vineyards in Ambonnay, makes vinous, intense, sublime wines that always surprise and delight. THE WINE ADVOCATE
Sparkling ripe fruit and floral notes herald this mouthwatering Champagne, with nectarine, gingersnap biscuit, orchard blossom and anise notes carried through the fine, chalky mousse. Drink now through 2029.
VINOUS MEDIA
Another standout, the 2006 Brut Millesime is stellar. This is an especially broad, creamy Champagne built on textural richness. Lemon oil, white flowers, smoke, almonds and baked apple are some of the signatures. Rich and resonant on the palate, the 2006 will drink beautifully for another decade or so, even if it could benefit from a little more time in bottle. Egly’s 2006 is a pure pleasure to taste today…
