The team at Valgiano used to make Palistorti, their “second” red wine, with a portion of purchased fruit. As of the 2015 vintage, it includes only estate fruit, and … the uptick in quality is apparent. It is exuberant and juicy … opening with flavors of plum, blackberry, licorice and black pepper that evolve into tangy raspberry and cherry tones — reflecting the 70% Sangiovese in the blend (the balance is merlot and syrah). What a fun and delicious wine.
